Prepare before entering the arena
In the September 2026 preview, the Spider Matriarch fights with webs, rushes, close-range hits, and smaller spiders. She can also recover health by using sacs around the arena. The practical plan is to prepare healing, remove the smaller enemies, destroy the healing sacs, and only then focus sustained damage on the boss. Sources
- Equip a weapon you can use reliably. One hands-on previewer successfully used a bow to maintain distance, but a specific weapon is not required.
- Check your inventory for available recovery items before the arena. A September guide describes a campfire before the fight where collected food could be prepared; use it if present in your version and if you have the ingredients. No particular recipe or count is required by this guide.
- Put usable consumables into the available item slots shown by your build. Do not assume the September hotkeys still match the October Demo. Sources
1. Clear the small spiders and healing sacs
- Enter the arena and avoid standing in the middle of the small spiders.
- Clear or evade the spiderlings to create enough room to move.
- Locate the sacs scattered around the arena. In the observed preview encounter, the Matriarch ran to these sacs and fed on them to recover health.
- Destroy the sacs when you have a safe opening. This prevents you from repeatedly undoing your own damage while the boss heals.
- Once the area is under control, return your attention to the Matriarch. Sources
2. Avoid the web-to-charge attack
- When the Matriarch fires webs, move away rather than standing still to trade hits. A September reviewer was trapped by webs and then hit by a charge and a close-range swipe.
- Keep a dodge available for a dangerous approach. September footage showed a dash cooldown; there is no verified universal invulnerability-frame duration.
- If you are using a bow, keep enough distance to shoot while you move. A ranged preview build was successful, but it is not the only possible tactic. Sources
3. Finish the fight and collect the Spider Key
After the healing sources are dealt with, attack the Matriarch when she leaves an opening. If she summons more spiderlings, deal with the immediate crowding before staying in close range. Once you defeat her, obtain the Spider Key, then follow the Spider Key and prison gate route to open the next door. Sources
If the boss keeps healing or you keep losing
- Health keeps rising: stop chasing the boss and look again for sacs she can feed from. Clear accessible sacs before resuming full damage.
- Caught by webs: move farther away from the Matriarch's front and avoid spending your dodge right before she approaches.
- Overwhelmed by spiderlings: create space and deal with the smaller enemies before engaging the boss directly.
- Running out of recovery items: review your available equipment and consumables before re-entering; the preview had a preparation area near this fight.
Exact boss HP, potion recovery numbers, guaranteed extra loot, and October Demo button bindings are not claimed here. These actions come from September hands-on play and could differ in later builds. Sources
